Katie's Space

Im Katie, 21, I am a Level 3 graduate of The Groundlings School, a student at The Second City- Hollywood and the Upright Citizens Brigade. I am passionate about TV, sketch writing, and improv.

comedic-timing asked: I'm just doing level 1 and hopefully 2 of UCB, and I'm auditioning to hopefully do basic with the groundlings. What did you like about either? how far did you make it in either? are they fun??

I would do UCB and Second City before you tackle Groundlings. Idk how old you are but I auditioned for groundlings when I was 18, an luckily got in, was the youngest person in the core program there, had to face a lot of adversity with my age, finally completed level 3 at 21 and they ended up not passing me cause I was still too young. That was the reason. I was judged by members of the groundlings which included Michaela Watkins and Jordan Black (a former writer for SNL) who all thought I was funny and could be hired to write for a show based on my talent alone in a second, but because I was so young and lacked life experience I wasn’t passed. This was last month.
I wish very much that when I was young I had done the lesser competitive schools like UCB and second city before I had done Groundlings but I can’t change the past. When I move to NY ill finish all of UCB there (UCBNY is way better than UCBLA) and hopefully ill be successful :)

Soooo…

I finally watched the Hunger Games tonight.
(I get pop culture references I missed now!)

Anyways… I have a question.
At the end, why is that dude with the white hair so mad?
I don’t feel like reading the books… I just want to know…
Thanks
:)

What’s new?

I just finished both seasons of The Killing and I’m obsessed and can’t wait for next season!

I’m painstakingly waiting for NYU to give me a decision. I want so badly to get in but I know on paper I seem subpar :/

I’m officially unemployed which I’m happy about, but part of me thinks I should have stuck it out for 3 more months because imma hurtin fo cash daddyo!

I’ve become so extremely lazy in my schoolwork that I’m starting to worry if ill pass a majorly easy class that I am currently failing… (By 1%)

I love my groundlings friends so much, and we wine tasted earlier this week and it was the highlight of my month! And were planning a long weekend in Palm Springs at the end of the month!

Speaking of, I am disgustingly overweight and need to lose weight and tone up in less than a month so I can look somewhat decent in Palm Springs! I’ve started being more conscience if what I eat and have been logging calories and eating what is healthy for me but I need to work out also which I am just not motivated to do!
I wanna do an Insanity workout or a 30 day shred thing but I got no money, honey.

I worry too much

Also I’m not sleeping well…

That’s all
